Creative iMedia (Cambridge Nationals)

At St James Academy, Creative iMedia is offered as an option subject for study from year 9 onwards. iMedia equips students with the wide range of knowledge and skills needed to work in the creative digital media sector. They start at pre-production and develop their skills through practical assignments as they create final multimedia products. There are two units of study that learners must complete.

Pre-production Skills focuses on all sectors of the media, which include not just traditional publishing but video, websites, sound and animation too.

Creating Digital Graphics focuses on printed digital publishing; learners are tasked with planning and creating a professional publication such as a poster, DVD cover or magazine advertisement.

Learners then go on to optional units on such subjects as website design and build, creating 2D and 3D characters, digital animation, digital video, and games development.

The course combines planning and written aspects as well as many practical project based tasks and is the right option for learners that wish to develop their computing skills whilst testing their creativity at the same time. For further information on our Creative iMedia course, please contact Mr. Palmer at the Academy or navigate to the Cambridge Nationals section of the OCR website.
